Systemic Changes

‘Systemic change involves a comprehensive overhaul of a system to create lasting impact by reshaping system structures to address root issues. It acknowledges that mental and behavioural health stems from circumstances, not just disorders, and that systems need to evolve to support this….’

Employers in the Creative Industries

The entertainment industries present unique challenges that can significantly undermine the mental health of the creatives working within them.  Whether it’s preparing for a role, going on tour, or releasing a new album or film, the demands can be unrelenting. Deadlines, expectations from fans and industry professionals, and the need to stay relevant all create a high-stakes atmosphere that can quickly overwhelm artists.

Creative professionals may grapple with unique stressors, including performance anxiety, fear of failure and the impact of criticism. The rigorous schedules, the constant travel and the distance from close friends and family often create a disconnect from emotional support systems, exacerbating feelings of loneliness.  For well-known figures, every personal and professional move is often scrutinised, making it difficult to escape the limelight even when they are struggling. Furthermore, the culture of “the show must go on” can make it difficult for individuals to prioritise their mental health and seek help when needed.

Systemic Changes recognises these challenges and is committed to providing tailored mental and behavioural health services that support the well-being of individuals in the film,TV and music sectors. Our approach combines expertise in mental health with an understanding of the unique demands and pressures faced by creative professionals, allowing us to provide relevant and effective support for those working in these areas.

How we work

Stage One

We start with a comprehensive, face-to-face consultation with you, the employer, to understand the unique needs and challenges your artist or team member is facing. We recognize that addressing sensitive issues may require multiple discussions to fully understand all aspects of the situation and ensure thorough, meaningful support.

Following our initial meeting, we schedule an intake session with our resident psychologist to begin a thorough process of understanding the client’s needs. During this session, we conduct an in-depth assessment designed to explore various aspects of the client’s mental, emotional, and behavioural patterns.

Stage Two

This comprehensive evaluation allows us to identify core areas for support and develop a customised care plan with recommendations tailored specifically to the client’s circumstances and professional responsibilities and commitments. We then build a trusted care team around the client, either collaborating with existing specialists or sourcing an entirely new team based on specific needs.

The care team collaborates closely with the client to ensure adherence to the treatment plan. If in-patient care becomes necessary, we can arrange for admission to a private, exclusive facility. Additionally, we provide secure transportation and sober companionship as needed to support the client throughout their journey.

Stage Three

We coordinate all facets of the client’s treatment and act as the primary point of contact between you, the client, and the care team, ensuring seamless communication while respecting confidentiality at all times.

As the client transitions back to their professional environment, we can provide ongoing support as needed, helping them re-engage with their work commitments and creative practice smoothly and confidently.

Investing in Well-Being

Supporting talent in the film, TV and music industries is not just about helping them achieve professional success—it’s about safeguarding their overall well-being for the long term. Mental and behavioural health challenges can hinder even the most outwardly successful individuals, and it’s crucial to provide a compassionate, tailored system of care that meets these needs.

By combining the emotional support of coaching with the structured care of case management with Systemic Changes, the entertainment industry can ensure that its talent not only survives but thrives—both personally and professionally.
